Have you have ever noticed this strange little building near Saltburn’s seafront ? The Saltburn Mortuary is part of Old Saltburn and stands just opposite the Ship Inn.
In 1881, a mortuary was built to house bodies which washed up on the beach, and it remained in operation until at least the 1960s. However, today the mortuary sits abandoned off of Saltburn Road in North Yorkshire.
Despite being abandoned for many years, the mortuary is in a fairly good condition, and urban explorer Exploring the North decided to take a look inside, Yorkshire Live reports . He said: "Over the years, the North Sea has sadly seen a number of people lose their lives at sea – usually caused by the rough winds and sea.
