Fitness fanatics defied sleep to take part in a gruelling 24-hour challenge pushing their endurance and mental grit to the limits. The group of 36 managed to raise more than £21,000 for charity in a feat which saw them perform a total of twelve 90 minute endurance challenges across the time.

The event, the brainchild of Matty Richardson, co-owner of Evolve gym and Brewbox on Hartlepool's Burn Road, saw 18 pairings tackle the round-the-clock Hyrox simulation. The Hyrox simulation, a globally recognised fitness trend, required each of the 18 pairs to complete a full race simulation every two hours for a total of 12 back-to-back workouts.
