BANGOR, Maine — Criminal justice students at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor now have the chance to get hands-on experience at Bangor International Airport through a new internship program in airport security.

"It's exciting, but it's also a little nerve-wracking to be the first one to do something, but I'm really excited to be the first one and pave the way," Nicholas Thomas, a criminal justice student at Eastern Maine Community College, said.

Thomas is the first student from EMCC to participate in a paid internship at BGR. For two semesters, he'll be learning the ins and outs of airport security and compliance.

"I've always wanted to be in law enforcement from a young age, and I love the outdoors, and I think it's a great way to mesh the two," Thomas said.
