Director Hari Krishna, who handled the megaphone for Ira and 8MM Bullet, has tried a new genre that is a mix of horror, drama, folklore, superstition and humour with the movie Kona. Hari Krishna must be appreciated for ensuring that actor Komal Kumar follow the script religiously and faithfully. Komal Kumar looks simple throughout the movie. The usage of VFX is apt as per the requirement.

The movie begins with actor-cum-politician Jaggesh narrating a story of a forgotten kingdom from the 18th and 19th centuries. The story is about some young men dying near a river and a priest discovering a cursed doll as the cause for the deaths. The priest advises the king to perform a special ritual (sacrificing a buffalo) and continue the

ritual every year to protect people from the evil spirit.
