SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -Friday is the beginning of the Bass Pro Shops Marathon Weekend .

A health and wellness expo is happening Friday and Saturday .

Then, on Sunday morning, more than 3,000 runners will take the Springfield streets for the marathon, half-marathon, and 5K.

The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management urges those participating and those commuting to be mindful of the increase in traffic.

“We urge that everybody just give yourself extra time getting to church or brunch on Sunday. Be respectful of those redirecting traffic. They’re just doing their jobs to keep everybody safer,” said Nicolette Zangara with the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management. “Just remember, this is one day out of the year.
