FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Franklin couple is teaching teenagers how to develop skills beyond academics. They’re teaching a masterclass in confidence.
Angelike and David Norrie are cofounders of Speak Up Teen, a program that serves 13-18 year olds.
David spent 25 years as a reporter. Around 2014, he noticed people had a hard time articulating themselves on video.
“This is when Instagram and Facebook were taking off, and a lot of business was going there, so I started to say, 'How can I help my team and my people be better with being personable?'” David said.
David began teaching the course Speak Up, and over the course of 10 years, with new technology like AI, he noticed not only were adults struggling but so were teens.
