ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — Junior Tristin Hughes found the end zone three times Friday night, leading the No. 5 seed Rocky River Pirates to a 20-15 victory over Midview in Division III, Region 10 playoff action.

Despite having three touchdowns nullified by penalties, the Pirates overcame what head coach Josh Wells described as “a mountain of yellow flags” to advance to the second round, where they will face the No. 4 seed Revere Minutemen.

Rocky River’s defense rose to the challenge in the closing minutes, making two critical stops in the final minute and a half. Sophomore Rowan Kennedy sealed the victory with an interception on Midview’s final possession.
