Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez this week pleaded not guilty to charges alleging he illegally voted on a housing contract and development deals in which he had a financial interest.
The nine-count indictment against Hernandez was unsealed as he appeared in court Thursday, revealing for the first time details of allegations that have rocked the political scene in the eastern Coachella Valley. Court records show the indictment against him was filed Friday, Oct. 24. Hernandez was arrested Tuesday, jail records show, and apparently turned himself in at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
