A Halloween celebration in Perth’s outer suburbs descended into chaos after hundreds of gatecrashers overran a suburban home and two police officers were assaulted trying to bring the situation under control.
Emergency calls began flooding in around 9.35pm on Friday as reports emerged of an “out of control” party on Linton Street North in Byford, with more than 400 people gathering in the area.
When police arrived, they were met with a large crowd of heavily intoxicated people spilling onto the street.
Officers moved to shut the party down and disperse the crowd, but the situation quickly escalated.
Police said two officers were assaulted during the operation - one allegedly punched in the face, and another kicked in the knee - as they worked to restore order.
