Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has agreed to vacate his Windsor estate after finally losing the support of his former wife and long-time ally, Sarah Ferguson.

The move marks the end of one of the most unusual royal arrangements in modern history - a former couple who continued living together for nearly thirty years after their divorce.

Ferguson, who once shared Royal Lodge with her ex-husband, will not follow him to his new home on the King’s Sandringham estate and has told friends she intends to “make her own plans”.

A representative for Ferguson declined to comment, but sources close to her said she made it clear she would leave the property in Windsor Great Park once Andrew’s position became untenable.
