If you are a regular reader, you know how much I loved our old toaster. So much, in fact, I wrote 500 words on how many memories the dome-shaped silver appliance held in my heart. My wife’s suggestion to upgrade put me into meltdown.

Recently, I discovered a new coffee maker in the coffee cabinet.

Some change is good, but please don’t mess with my morning coffee routine.

My wife is an amazing manager of me. Armed with 44 years of arms-length experience, she coins me the most laid-back, highly strung person in the world.

And she is right. I relish the serendipity of life, as if watching a leaf travel down a mountain stream, the current determining which side of the boulder for the leaf to pass. And in a bit of a hippy-dippy philosophy, I believe there is some life force we ride each day
