The accused, identified as Bashir Ahmad Mir, son of Mohd Ashan Mir and a resident of Wathoo, Shopian, was wanted in Case FIR No. 28/2002 registered under Sections 366, 376, and 109 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) at Police Station Rajpora.

Acting on specific information, a special team from Police Station Rajpora launched a targeted operation and apprehended Mir after decades on the run. Following completion of all legal formalities, the accused was produced before the competent court of law.
