As if the prospects of a Game 7 weren’t compelling enough, the superstar factor of the World Series deciding contest just got that much more compelling.

The Los Angeles Dodgers made it official early Saturday afternoon, announcing that Shohei Ohtani will be their starting pitcher against the Blue Jays on Saturday night, further adding to the theatre of such a grand stage.

Ohtani, who will be pitching on just three days’ rest, is expected to work as an opener, throwing two to three innings, as his Dodgers attempt to win the Fall Classic for a second consecutive year.

The decision, is both compelling and complicated while also further adding to the tremendous theatre expected for Game 7 which will unfold in front of a sold out Rogers Centre at 8:10 p.m. on Saturday night.
