SUFFERN – More than 100 firearms were turned in during a gun buyback event held on Saturday at the Leo Lydon Community Center in Suffern.
The event, hosted in partnership with the Suffern Police Department, resulted in 71 handguns, 21 assault weapons, 25 rifles and shotguns, and 1 non-functioning firearm.
“We’re grateful for our law enforcement partners who helped make this event possible,” said Chief Deirdre Smith, the Chief of Detectives for the Rockland County District Attorney’s Investigative Unit. “Events like this are a key part of our broader strategy to reduce gun violence through prevention and partnership.”
