BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) -- Boardman Professional Fire Fighters Local 1176 is expressing its concern regarding what it calls the "collapse" of the EMS system in the Township.
The union shared a letter of concern to local media as well as its social media pages on Saturday after it said Oct. 31 was a "glaring" example of the current "collapse" of the EMS system in Boardman Township.
According to the letter, Boardman fire crews began Halloween day without the ability to staff its medical unit. After three medical emergencies between 10 a.m. and just after noon, the union said they began having issues with availability that continued through the evening. They credited mutual aid from neighboring agencies for their help with numerous incidents, including a fatal accident on Interstate 680.
