RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) - The South Rutland Rotary Club has been on the search for an organization to donate $50,000 to celebrate its 50th year.
They decided to help out the Rutland County Habitat for Humanity.
The organization works to build affordable homes throughout the marble city and Rutland county and operates low-cost furnishing stores throughout Vermont.
They say the $50,000 will go a long way to help them establish a new workshop to increase what they can do each year. “We’re going to be able to offer more of that now in Rutland County, currently we’re building two homes a year right now but we’re hoping to increase that to five homes a year in the next three years and 10 or more in the next five years so it’s going to be exponential in the impact we’ll have in Rutland County,” sa
