Macomb County Peter Lucido is implementing a new policy aimed at moving cases more swiftly through the court system though legal experts say such action is not under his office’s purview.

The “Two-and-Through” policy requires that assistant prosecutors consent to no more than two adjournments per case, Lucido said in a press release announcing the new directive, which takes effect immediately.

“Justice delayed is justice denied,” Lucido said. “This policy is about keeping our system fair, efficient, and focused on the rights of victims who deserve to see their cases resolved without unnecessary delay.”
