Front Royal resident Angela Bambrey is packing her bags for the trip of a lifetime.

Bambrey, 43, will play for the U.S. National Women’s Blind Cricket Team in the inaugural Women’s T20 Blind Cricket World Cup in India this month.

Blind since she was 17, Bambrey leapt at the chance to learn and play the sport.

“I never really had the opportunity to do sports,” she said, explaining that her family moved around a lot when she was a kid because of her father’s military career.

Bambrey said a friend involved in the National Federation for the Blind told her about the formation of the new blind cricket team to represent the United States.

“When an opportunity is placed in front of me, I’m going to take it,” she said, explaining that she applied for the team and then attended training camps
