BERRYVILLE — Clients from the six Shenandoah Valley senior centers operated by Seniors First got a head start on Halloween on Thursday with a celebration at the Clarke County Parks and Recreation Center near Berryville.

“They enjoy getting together with each other,” said Marsha LeBrecht, director of human relations and senior center operations for Seniors First.

Charlie Huntt, who socializes at the Frederick County senior center at Stephens City United Methodist Church , showed up wearing Native American attire, including an elaborate headdress with feathers that flowed down his back and a spear that he created on Wednesday with his granddaughter.

Calling himself Chief Graybeard, he said he did a little rain dance before arriving.
