SCOTIA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Scotia Police Department is reminding parents to examine all Halloween treats carefully after a needle was found in a piece of candy. An investigation is underway.
Police said a social media post made them aware that a parent had found a foreign object, described to be a small sewing needle, in a piece of candy received during trick-or-treating. The object was reportedly discovered while the parent was inspecting their child's Halloween treats.
No injuries were reported and authorities do not believe that there is a wider threat or pattern in the community. The department said they are taking steps to determine how the incident happened.
