Michigan State offense finds its spark in Alessio Milivojevic’s first start

Minneapolis — Aidan Chiles and Alessio Milivojevic jogged onto the field for warmups at Minnesota on Saturday. Just like they always do. Only this time, Milivojevic branched off to take the first-team reps. Chiles, the starter for every other game the past two seasons, took second string.

Michigan State’s backup quarterback Milivojevic, who had led scoring drives in garbage time the past four games, finally got his shot to lead the offense. Coach Jonathan Smith just wanted to find a spark, and he turned to the up-and-comer who’d made a strong impression late in the past four games.
