Those behind the Dresden 1957 project have launched a new crowdfunding campaign.

The documentary aims to tell the story of a Dresden excavation collapse that killed six Dutch immigrant workers that year.

With a goal of $60,000, funds raised will allow post-production to start this year, much sooner than would be possible if filmmakers relied solely on traditional film funding sources, stated a media release.

The fatal collapse occurred during construction of a pumping station in the North Kent community.

It ranked as Ontario’s worst workplace tragedy in terms of deaths at the time, but public memory of the event quickly disappeared.
