A man was shot and killed by police in Sechelt on Saturday morning.
B.C. RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Vanessa Munn said Sunshine Coast RCMP officers were called to the 5900-block of Oldmill Lane at 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 1 about a man in distress carrying an edged weapon.
“Sunshine Coast RCMP arrived on scene and located the man nearby,” Munn said.
“Upon making contact, the man fled back into a residence and was pursued by officers. There were other people including children inside the house. Police maintained contact with the man who was allegedly holding an edged weapon as they worked to de-escalate the situation.”
The Lower Mainland integrated emergency response team was called and at 10:38 a.m. shots were fired by police inside the home.
