PHOENIX — The superintendent of a West Valley high school district made a splash a few weeks ago when he confirmed plans for an $80 million indoor football stadium at a new high school.
Now, Tolleson Union High School District residents might get to see what those plans are, at least a year after voters approved borrowing millions for a stadium without knowing it.
The enclosed stadium would be the first in Maricopa County.
“It's way too late,” said David Briggs, a former assistant superintendent at Tolleson Union.
“This should have taken place before (the designer) was ever hired: ‘This is what we might be doing with the bond money, should it pass, here's what it's going to look like.’ I think it's a little too late.”
Briggs is now the spokesman for Citizens for School Accountability.
