Warren Pierce, a longtime radio host and TV anchor in Detroit, has died.

Pierce died Oct. 31 at the age of 82, according to an online obituary .

Born and raised in Detroit, Pierce was best known as host of the “The Warren Pierce Show” on WJR-AM (760) and as an anchor at Fox 2 Detroit. He worked at WJR for nearly 40 years, where he helped pioneer talk radio in the mid-'70s, before more recently hosting "The Warren Pierce Show" on weekends on WDFN-AM (1130).

“Known for its wide-ranging interviews and energetic storytelling, Warren interviewed over 70,000 people over the years,” his obituary said. “His work extended beyond the studio, as he broadcast live from across Michigan and around the world.
