BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge teen has been arrested after deputies say he intentionally drove his car into a structure, severely injuring a 3-year-old girl, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, on GSRI Avenue. According to arrest documents, Jose Jose Jarquin Soza, 19, was involved in an argument when he got into his vehicle and accelerated toward the person.

Jarquin’s vehicle struck a 3-year-old, a stairwell, and part of a residential structure before he fled without rendering aid, according to arrest documents.

The child suffered life-threatening injuries, including an amputated left leg, and was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery.
