Norfolk State men win 6th MEAC title in row

The Norfolk State men’s cross country team continued its dominance Saturday in Cary, North Carolina, winning its sixth consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship.

NSU posted finishes of 1-3-10-14-27 for 55 points. Delaware State placed second with 70, while North Carolina Central was third with 91.

NSU’s Lewis Too claimed the individual title with an 8-kilometer time of 24 minutes, 20.60 seconds. Mathew Kipkoech (third in 24:44.40), Jemmel Green (10th, 25:36.40) and Basil Koech (14th in 25:53.70) joined Too in gaining All-MEAC accolades. The Spartans’ Kenneth Giles, as he has been so often, was named the men’s Outstanding Coach.

Earlier, NSU’s women placed second with 54 points, trailing only Howard (34).
