A mother who stabbed her 14-year-old daughter’s boyfriend in the chest after catching him inside a bedroom at their home has narrowly avoided jail.
Jennifer Mui Len Chin was handed a two-year suspended sentence after a jury found her guilty of intent to cause bodily harm in the Perth District Court earlier this year.
The incident happened at Chin’s Parkwood home, in Perth’s south, on October 17, 2023, when she found the 14-year-old boy under a doona in a bedroom.
The court was told Chin was at home with her 14-year-old daughter and six-year-old son when she discovered the boy in their home.
Her daughter heard her coming down the hallway and went to speak with Chin before she entered the bedroom and found a boy she did not know hiding under the covers.
