NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — An 8-year-old child and an adult have died following a house fire in North Haven Monday morning.

Officers responded to a report of a house fire on George Street around 12:30 a.m. Police say one adult was found deceased inside the home.

An 8-year-old child was rescued from inside the home but did not survive, according to police.

Police say no one else was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by North Haven police, fire, and the State Fire Marshals office.

No other information has been released at this time.
