A Fatal Accident Inquiry (FIA) into the death of a West Lothian farmer is set to begin next month.

Andrew Rennie, 75, farmer and owner of West Torphin Farm in West Calder, died on November 24, 2024 following an incident involving a quad bike.

Mr Rennie was bringing in sheep from a field when the incident occurred.

Now, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) have lodged a First Notice to begin the court process for an FAI with a Preliminary Hearing set for December 12, 2025 at Livingston Sheriff Court.

Procurator Fiscal Andy Shanks, who leads on death investigations for COPFS, said: “The death of Andrew Rennie occurred while in the course of his employment and as such a Fatal Accident Inquiry is mandatory.
