CONCORD, Mass. —

Police are investigating after makeshift scarecrows placed around the Concord-Carlisle School District caused alarm.

Superintendent Laurie Hunter said she is the target of the scarecrows that were found in Concord and have messages that include: "Fire liar hunter, "Muskets for musk?," "The hatch for hunter!" and "Hate, waste, bullying, higher taxes."

"This weekend, a second scarecrow-like object with a message containing demeaning language toward Superintendent Laurie Hunter was placed at the end of the street of an elected School Committee official," Concord School Committee Chair Andrew Herchek said.

One resident said more than a dozen makeshift scarecrows have been found.
