Massachusetts will see a dry start to Monday before showers arrive in the late afternoon, continuing throughout the night.

National Weather Service forecasters expect temperatures in the mid to high 50s on Monday. But cloud cover will increase as the day goes on, as moisture accumulates in the air.

The chance for rain increases after 2 p.m. Monday, though widespread showers are not likely to develop until the evening.

"Most rain/showers will be light; however, high-resolution model guidance does hint (at) the potential for some embedded brief higher rain rates," forecasters wrote. “So can’t rule out a few brief downpours.”

A cold front will move into the region overnight Tuesday, pushing the rain and clouds out by early that morning. Forecasters expect less than an inch of rain to fall
