NEW MEXICO (KRQE) - Very clear skies, dry air, and mostly calm winds have led to seasonably chilly temperatures across the region, but northeasterly winds in the Northeast Highlands are developing as a weak backdoor front moves in.

Below-freezing temperatures are confined to many areas in the northwestern third of the region, while everywhere else from central areas of the Rio Grande Valley to the south and east is mostly ranging from the 30s to the 40s.

Sunshine today will still remain despite some high clouds rolling in from the northwest with above-normal temperatures. Areas to the northeast will range from the high 50s to the lower 70s, while high 60s and lower 80s will develop from the Rio Grande Valley to southern areas.
