Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating a second suspected arson to target a residential building in Montreal’s Cotes-Des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough early Monday morning. At around 1:30 a.m. firefighters were called to the scene of a fire on Girouard Avenue near Saint-Jacques street. According to the SPVM, the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) requested assistance from police after identifying signs that the blaze may have been criminal in nature.
“At least one suspect was seen near the residential building and tried to set fire to an apartment balcony,” said SPVM spokesperson, Jeanne Drouin. “The suspect or suspects fled before the arrival of the police,” she added. “Possibly in a vehicle.” According to police, damages to the balcony were minor and no injuries were reported. “This
