For years, Fargo has been working to better understand and respond to the challenges of homelessness in our community. When people fall through the cracks, we owe them compassion and coordination, not judgment.

That is what this effort to relocate the Engagement Center is really about. It is not about moving people away. It is about bringing people and services together in a better, more coordinated way.

The current building was chosen during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when the city needed to act quickly. It filled a critical need during a difficult time, but it was never intended to be a long-term solution.
