A man and an 8-year-old boy are dead following an early morning house fire in North Haven on Monday.

Crews responded to a report of the fire at a home on George Street around 12:30 a.m. and found a man dead inside, according to the North Haven Fire Department .

While battling the blaze, firefighters rescued an 8-year-old boy from the home. Fire officials said he did not survive.

The identities of the victims has not been released.

Several other people who were in the home were able to make it out safely, according to fire officials.

“This is a heartbreaking incident, and our thoughts are with the family, friends, and all those affected,” firefighters said in a statement.
