A multi-state listeria outbreak linked to ready-to-eat pasta products sold at Kroger, Walmart and Trader Joe's has sickened at least two people in Michigan, the FDA says.
Seven new cases in three state have been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since Sept. 25. Two new listeria-linked deaths have been reported, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Including two reported illnesses in Michigan, 27 people across 18 states have been infected with a strain of listeria, according to a case count map provided by the CDC.
Of the 27 sickened individuals, 25 were hospitalized, and one associated illness resulted in fetal loss, the FDA reported.
The FDA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the CDC are investigating the outbreak.
