SPRINGFIELD, La. (WAFB) - Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist dead over the weekend in Livingston Parish.

State police identified the victim as Earl Duncan, 57, of Springfield.

The two-vehicle crash happened just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, on Highway 43 near Haynes Settlement Road.

According to LSP’s preliminary investigation, Duncan, on a 1999 Honda motorcycle, and a 2024 Cadillac XT6 were both headed north on Highway 43 when the Cadillac attempted to pass the motorcycle in a legal passing zone.

For reasons still under investigation, troopers say the motorcycle turned left into the path of the Cadillac, resulting in the collision.
