MINNEAPOLIS — A juvenile is dead after a gun was discharged at a birthday gathering late Sunday, and Minneapolis investigators are trying to determine whether the young man's death is a homicide.

The fatal shooting took place in the basement of a home on the 2900 block of Russell Ave. N just before 11 p.m. Officers arrived to find the victim, described as a juvenile male in his teens, suffering from a single gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving measures, the young man was declared dead on the scene.
