CONCORD, N.H. — Investigators say a deadly weekend house fire in Concord, New Hampshire, occurred on a floor of the home where no smoke alarms were working.
Fire crews responded to 2 Rhodora Court just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, after a medical alert call, according to a Monday news release from the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office. When firefighters arrived, they reported seeing smoke coming from the front door and began searching the home.
A sleeping adult woman was rescued without injury, but an adult man was found dead on a different floor. Officials later identified the victim as 77-year-old Alexis Palmacci of Concord. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Palmacci died of smoke inhalation and ruled his death accidental.
