The Louisville Cardinals will be without star running back Isaac Brown moving forward. He suffered a leg injury in the final minutes of their game against the Virginia Tech Hokies and head coach Jeff Brohm announced the bad news on Monday.
"Isaac will be out for a while," Brohm told Joey Demling of 247Sports. "Obviously, he will not be available for this game."
Brohm was not willing to say if Brown is done for the year saying, "I wouldn't go that far yet. We'll see how these next few weeks go and go from there."
He has had an excellent sophomore season for the Cardinals, rushing for 782 yards and five touchdowns in eight games. He has rushed for over 100 yards in five of their games, including the last three. His 8.59 yards per carry leads the ACC and is fourth in the country.
Brown's great season is a major reason that Louisville is 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the ACC, putting them in the middle of the race for a spot in the conference championship game and the College Football Playoffs. The good news is that they have a capable backup in Keyjuan Brown, who has rushed for over 90 yards in each of their past two games.
The Cardinals will face their first test without Brown on Saturday when they host the California Golden Bears. Louisville is on a three-game winning streak and is 4-1 at home this season.
