Auburn officials are holding the first news conference Monday after the firing of Hugh Freeze.
Freeze was fired on Sunday. Defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin will serve as the interim head coach, according to Auburn Athletics.
Durkin thanked Freeze, saying he has the ability to see the person more than the player.
Auburn Athletic Director John Cohen spoke about what the school is looking for in the next head coach and said this is not the only staff moves that will take place.
Finding someone with intelligence, strategic thinking and someone who can lead a building, staff and players "into battle" is important, Cohen said.
"I think we have the best job out there," Cohen said.
