The UTEP women's basketball team's formula for success is going to revolve around forcing spates of give-aways and running up the turnover margin.
That was the way of the season-opener against Prairie View A&M, as the Miners forced 27 turnovers, went +10 in turnover margin and came away with a 84-60 victory that at times looked like an opener and at times looked like a promising glimpse of what the Miners can become.
UTEP had a 25-4 run in the first half and a 20-6 run in the second half and led for the final 32 minutes to win comfortably, their 11th season-opening win in the last 12 years.
Sophomore Mary Moses Amaniyo looks to have made a leap, as she came off the bench to record a school record 21 rebounds and 16 points and was the major part of UTEP's 51-37 rebounding advantage.
