Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky’s new chief of staff took a shot at Councilman Barry Graham’s livelihood in what Graham calls a political move.

Lamar Whitmer, who was not Borowsky’s chief of staff at the time, filed a complaint with the Arizona State Board of Accountancy against Graham’s Certified Public Accountant’s license July 3.The complaint was dismissed by the board Oct. 20.

Whitmer took over as Borowsky’s chief of staff Oct. 6.

“Mr. Whitmer’s complaint consisted of several allegations that I am confident were baseless and politically motivated, aimed at influencing the Scottsdale City Council election in 2026,” Graham said in a written statement to the Daily Independent. “As I detailed in my response to the Board, Mr. Whitmer’s allegations bore no relation to my professional condu
