Honolulu firefighters put out a two-alarm fire at a state Department of Education building overnight. No injuries were reported, and no one was found inside the building at the time.
The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 1:26 a.m. for a building fire at 1136 California Ave., in Wahiawa. Eleven units with 35 personnel responded, with the first arriving on scene just three minutes later.
Firefighters found a fire at the single-story building that serves as DOE’s Central Oahu District Office.
After getting water on the fire, and using an offensive attack with handlines, the fire was brought under control at 2:02 a.m., and extinguished at 2:27 a.m.
An investigation is underway to determine the fire’s origin, cause, along with an estimated damage.
