TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Trump administration said it will provide partial SNAP benefits for November amid the ongoing government shutdown.

The news comes on Monday, Nov. 3, exactly a week after it was announced SNAP benefits would be suspended for November .

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said it will tap $4.65 billion from its contingency fund to cover 50% of current allotments for eligible households. People will not see the payments immediately, as the process can take a couple of weeks.

The Trump administration’s move follows a federal judge’s decision last week ordering the program to continue running .

The news from the Department of Agriculture came while Congresswoman Terri Sewell met with leaders at the West Alabama Food Bank to discuss ramping up
