RICHMOND — After posting a tremendous performance in the William & Mary football team’s victory against UAlbany, sophomore running back Josh Miller was honored as the CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week.
Miller was the first of three Tribe players – joining Stephon Hicks and Xavier Dillard – who blocked punts that resulted in safeties in the 37-7 triumph against UA. His block late in the first quarter gave W&M a 9-0 advantage, while he also added 20 rushing yards and a 6-yard reception.
The Tribe’s three blocked punts and safeties were one shy of FCS records, while W&M now ranks tied for first nationally in blocked punts this season with five.
In addition to the safeties by Miller, Hicks and Dillard, W&M also scored a special teams touchdown with a 5-yard run on a fake field
