KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person has died following a crash Friday night in Independence, Missouri.
The crash was reported around 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 40 Highway and Sterling Avenue.
According to the Independence Police Department, the driver of a Ford Escape that was traveling eastbound, went around stopped traffic through the intersection with a red light and collided with a northbound Ford F-250.
Police said the impact pushed the F-250 into a Toyota Avalon that was also traveling northbound through the intersection.
On Monday, police said the driver of the Ford Escape died from his injuries. He has been identified as 45-year-old Henry Gibson, of Independence.
Police said the driver of the F-250 remains in the hospital in serious but stable condition.
