KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City leaders have turned to a private marketing firm to help stabilize and reshape the city’s communications department.
The City Manager’s Office has contracted Crux, a Kansas City based marketing and communications agency, to provide what it calls an expert, outside perspective and help evaluate the department’s structure and performance.
As part of the six-month, $149,600 agreement, Crux’s Melea McRae will serve as interim director of communications. She’ll temporarily assume the department’s leadership role while also leading a broader review of how the city shares information with the public.
According to city officials, McRae and her team will assess the department’s structure, culture, standards, and processes to recommend long-term improvements.
