TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- President Donald Trump's administration announced partial funding for SNAP benefits Monday. Yet Congresswoman Terri Sewell, D-AL, is pushing for the federal program to be fully funded.

“In previous shutdowns, we always funded SNAP, so this is actually an anomaly," Sewell said. "But it looks as if the courts are mandating SNAP beneficiaries receives those fundings."

More than 750,000 Alabamians are without SNAP, according to the Alabama Department of Human Resources. In Sewell’s congressional district, which encompasses counties in the Black Belt, 58,000 families are affected.

The Trump administration and the DHR have not provided information about when payments will start to roll out or how much people will receive for November.
